In the Chinese language, the single character, "hsi" (mandarin) or "hei" (cantonese) means simply 'happiness'. In Chinese culture, marriage is considered to be the joining of two happinesses into one, therefore two "hsi" or "hei" combined into one charracter are traditional marital celebration motifs. Our first double happiness bowls were made in honor of Rebecca Moy Behre's parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We have added the bowls to our line to serve as unique gifts for both weddings and anniversaries. Handthrown & trimmed in white clay by Becky Moy Behre.

In 2009, we replaced the old cast iron woodstove in our dark basement with a new fuel efficient version. When we took the old stove out into the light outside to discard it, we were stunned to rediscover the charming scenes of a country road on one side and of a log cabin on the other on the 2 side panels. In a flash of inspiration, I ran to the studio, whipped out a thick slab of porcelain, brought it back to the stove, and made a casting of both scenes. We make both 'country road' and 'log cabin' plates in white stoneware with our ameraucana celadon glaze. Approximately 10.5" x 10.5", proportions may vary slightly.

This tall Face Vase by Becky Moy Behre, is the latest & largest of a lifelong series of face vases spanning more than 3 decades. This particular vase was a response to a dream Becky had in which she saw such a vase in a shop in the town of St.Ives in Cornwall, UK as she got off the train. Very dramatic with long stem flowers such as long stem roses, lilies but SPECTACULAR with large tulips as they continue their uniquely organic stretching and reaching out phenomenon after a few days in the vase !

This slab impression tray was originally formed by impressing a large hosta leaf cut from our garden into a soft slab of clay and making a plaster cast to allow for reproduction. Made out of porcelain and glazed in either our copper & iron green glazes or cool celadon, they are beautiful and handy for serving cheese & crackers, handsome for displaying a bunch of bananas, and totally awesome for serving chocolates! Makes a lasting momento of a visit to the Greenbridge Pottery summer garden. About 12" long x 9" wide.

These are the newest impressionware soapdishes, using the castings from very large oak leaves found on dogwalks with Violet & Sunny in the woods in the Greenbridge block. They were designed to complement the Arghand Soap collection but would also be great to hold sponges & scrubbies in the kitchen. They are glazed using the new turquoise glaze which has long been in the developing, whose characteristics include beautiful burning on edges & luscious pooling in low points

With the current trend towards smaller serving sizes, the lunch pasta bowl/plates, at approximately 8.5-9" diameter x 1.75" - 2" deep, are the most versatile of all our dinnerware offerings, serving equally well to hold a small salad meal, sandwiches, or moderate portions of stews and spaghetti. They are thrown in red stoneware with a spiral inside a shallow curved shape and a wide curved rim which serves as a handle. Lunch pastas are currently available in green glaze.

One of a kind porcelain bowl thrown by Becky Moy Behre in collaboration with Washington Artist, Susan Greenleaf, made on site in the Greenbridge Pottery studio. This bowl has been thrown by Becky and carved & sculpted by Susan with a pair of bas relief horses racing neck to neck inside. Details have been highlighted with stain, then glazed over with the Greenbridge Ameraucana celadon developed to accent and complement the fine detail of Susan's work.
