PATTY RUEHL BERRY

PATTY VIDEO: Making Sheep for Peeking Sheepbowls

Patty Berry had never worked in clay before joining Greenbridge as an apprentice but she was still one of the most qualified & skilled artisans to ever begin work at the Pottery. As a college student, Patty was a painting major at Maryland Institute College of Art and graduated with a BFA in 2008. After graduating she worked construction, wielding a mean hammer as an Americore volunteer and by the time we met her just before she & Chad Berry got married a couple of years ago, she had worked her way up to being a Foreman & Project coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in the Baltimore Inner city and Annapolis, MD. As soon as she made her first pieces in the studio, however, we could tell she had an extraordinary aptitude for clay, demonstrating unusual strength & skill, hand eye coordination and a subtle but distinctive sensitivity to the medium.
