Nick first experienced throwing on the potters' wheel as a high school student, immediately fell in love with the process and found both his calling and destiny as a potter. Since then he has pursued studies in clay through local colleges & art schools, including internships at Penland School of Arts & Crafts in North Carolina and Haystack Mountain School of Arts in Maine.
Currently living in New Windsor, Maryland, Nick set up a studio in an old building he renovated himself about 5 years ago at the Shiloh Pottery and built a wood & oil burning kiln next to it in nearby Hampstead, MD. He is a full-time professional potter and periodically travels to work as a journeyman potter for various pottery studios in the mid-Atlantic region.
Early summer 2008, Nick first came to Greenbridge to throw & handle about 50 spiral mugs and several large pitchers in our red stoneware. Since then he has participated in our annual Fall Demo Day, entertaining the crowd by throwing juggling pins as well as pots (a man of many talents!), been a big support in production of this year's Holiday offerings of dinner & lunch plates, mugs etc and now shows regularly on our website and gallery. We have also begun to participate in stacking & firing of his woodburning kiln. As a musician, he has also recently been jamming with the Greenbridge Folk Band on banjo & guitar! We feel very blessed to Nick as a friend and kindred spirit in clay, music and many other ways!
